AI SEARCH & ASSISTANT DOMINATION

If you are able to dominate AI search and the assistant’s market which is out there to be grabbed, there are serious chances that you would end up gaining prominent dominance in the AI commercial world. The first mover advantage at scale will be on your side and given the user base and their habits developed over decades, the company might just continue to be the natural choice in the AI world too. We are talking about Google and its AI ambitions these days. This also considers OpenAI’s near complete takeover when ChatGPT took over the world by surprise.

AI industry insiders would vividly remember what Sunder Pichai has to say during talks of Google Search decimation in the initial heydays of ChatGPT. I distinctly remember his statement that Google has not been the pioneer in lots of services it offers, but having picked up those technologies, they have turned out to be the most prominent name there. What he intended to say, that he was confident in repeating the same feat with Artificial Intelligence. Already we can see the indications of the same. Gemini, integrating all AI efforts under the banner of DeepMind / Demis Hassabis and making AI generic across all Google services have already started redefining it.

With this strength Google DeepMind CEO says we dominate AI search and assistants. Demis Hassabis is of the opinion that both the modes are going to be growing and necessary. He is convinced of the fact that the future of AI retrieval isn’t either-or – Google intends to win at both. Through AI Overviews and the newly launched AI mode, Google is radically reshaping search with generative AI. Google views it has a moment to expand its dominance. Tasks / jobs being wiped out is the premonition. This futuristic engagement with AI is sparking an existential crisis for many SEOs, creators, and publishers.

All of them struggle with the new reality of what “search” is in an AI-first world. In a wide-ranging interview with Wired’s Steven Levy, Hassabis talks about the vision of Google’s positioning in the days to come. First would be AI powered search (i.e.,Google Overviews) for quick facts and citations, and the second, AI Mode; Google’s new immersive, conversational AI search experience, is for deeper queries. In Hassabis’s words, “Both those modes are going to be growing and necessary. We plan to dominate both.”

IN A POST TRADITIONAL SEARCH WORLD, GOOGLE IS PUTTING ALL ITS MIGHT TO MAINTAIN ITS PREDOMINANT POSITION.
