AI WILL REWRITE RULES OF EMPLOYMENT

After the well known truism of, “Getting hacked is the new normal,” the new one hitting the public domain is “You’re not going to lose your job to an AI, but you are going to lose your job to someone who uses AI.” Besides being a truism, this has been a warning given by none other than Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. It is an unsettling prediction from the head of $3.3 trillion chip-making behemoth powering the world’s most advanced AI tools. He was speaking at the Milken Institute Global Conference on May 6, 2025.

As we understand today, AI is being taken as a future concern, even if it may not turn out to be very distant. But CEO Jensen Huang is of the opinion that the rules of the workplace are already being altered. “Every job will be affected, and immediately. It is unquestionable.” Then what choice are we left with? None. From here emerges the operational and utilitarian dictum, embracing AI is no longer optional. It has existential value in the quicksand of the job market what the AI has made it out to be. It is a job market where knowledge, not machines, becomes the sharpest competitor.

Similar sentiments have been echoed by Chris Hyams, CEO of job platform Indeed. This was while he was interacting with CNBC Make It. There are not many jobs which AI can fully automate as of now. There are many tasks in most of the jobs which AI can handle. Then who is likely to become a sought after professional? “Humans who can collaborate with, train, and command AI systems are becoming the most sought-after professionals.” In it is hidden the new arms race of that of knowledge.

Despite the unsettling forecasts the CEO Nvidia made, he remains fully optimistic about AI’s ability to create new types of jobs. This AI shift will open up entirely new layers of industry and trade. Every single layer of tooling being invented right now will create tons of jobs at the next layer. So what is the real risk? It is the risk of falling behind in AI literacy. He revealed that he often drafts using tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. The trajectory of AI isn’t just about coding anymore – “it’s about communication, creativity, and problem-solving.”

MAPPING THE AI MUST SKILLS CAN BE FIRST STEP TOWARDS LEARNING IT.
