BULLDOZER JUSTICE
Justice delayed is justice denied is a truism, which people are made to believe does not hold good. Law will take its own course in another truism that is flaunted by the powers that be, when they are caught on the wrong foot, or they have defended some of the wrongdoers either by compulsion or choice. There are times when some people want to prove being responsible, would like to display glimpses of instantaneous or fast track justice to their constituents and to the masses at large. Let’s not gloss over the fact that issues however criminal and illegal it might be cannot be created in a day, nor can they be sorted out in a day.
This brings forth the real truism of this country, which means all irregularities and illegalities happen on a daily basis across the country, under the nose of the powers that be. You can call it, turning a blind eye or a lackadaisical enforcement, the reality is an all permeating total downslide in governance. If you scratch below the surface, it would be outright connivance and mostly rampant corrupt practices having completely taken over. What builders have done to this nation, we are all aware of, playing with fire both on the regulatory side; the government agencies and on the other, delivering a reckless deal to the customers.
The encroachments also happen in a similar manner. It might be individual in nature or by business enterprises, not to talk of even hospitals or any other organisation. Gobbling land and flouting every building law / rule in the country seems to be quite an acceptable proposition, if it does not even raise a serious hue and cry. Nearly everyone is involved. Lots happens on similar lines in the countryside too. Now in a situation where there is a criminal issue or a crime or accused where action needs to be displayed, bulldozer justice comes in handy. Pick up a case of irregularity, bull doze and show it to the world that instant justice has been made.
Indian democracy mostly provides connections where it does not exist and exactly the contrary too. The punishment for the crime may take years together and that does not augur well for the powers that be, on their face. Leaving the crime committed aside, an irregularity of the accused related to building / land is picked up and is cleared by bulldozer. From the same scandalous file stack documents are taken out to prove the action to be right. Firstly, the timing is suspect, so as to give an impression that the bulldozing action was taken as a proactive action on the crime or offence committed, when that is not the case. What about notices sent to hundreds and thousands, which go unaccounted for, for decades together. No action might be taken on them in perpetuity. What about the conniving government officials and mechanism which makes it happen? This is the real tragedy that has struck the nation like a termite. Bulldozer may just turn out to be democracy’s most successful caste.
BULLDOZER IN LIEU OF WELL ESTABLISHED PROCESS OF JUSTICE CANNOT MAKE LEGAL SENSE.
