HIT AND RUN – PUNE TO MUMBAI – PORSCHE TO BMW
What has changed in the hit and run cases scenario in this country from the 19th of May 2023 to the 7th of July 2024? Nothing. The nature of hue and cry raised in Pune Prosche man made accident case gave us a feeling that it would turn out to be a watershed moment that we were looking for. That did not happen. Hardly fifty days down the line, nor far from Pune in the state Mumbai witnessed heartrending hit and run case, in the wee hours of 7th July 2024, killing Kaveri and leaving her husband injured. This time the main accused is the son of a politician not a builder.
The brat once again came from a rich and influential family.Education has never been their hallmark, and this brat is ill educated. They spend their evenings in pubs and bars and it seems they get back home somewhere around dawn, if they do. There is no limit to money they can spend on drinks and fun. They move around like vagabonds the whole night, mostly drunk. They love driving in an inebriated state. Parents have no control over them and they are shy in making it known to the world what their kids do. They have been unleashed on our roads to transform it into killing fields. Their ecosystem makes them believe that they can get away with anything.
The family, friends and even the official ecosystem goes out of the way to adjust to their criminal existence. The Pune Porsche proved that there are gaping holes in every component of the criminal justice system and there is nobody who can take its responsibility. Surprisingly, it goes till the Juvenile Justice Board. Mihir Shah the prime and only accused could disappear into thin air, while the famed Mumbai Police kept watching. Is there a manhunt required for this brat? The Pune Police has changed to Mumbai Police the car changed from Prosche to BMW.
Trust is at the core of policing and if that is lost, it will not be able to stand on its own feet. That would be an ideal situation for exploiters of different types. What concrete action has been taken from the Pune Porsche case time? Has there been an increase in the number of motor vehicle cases including drunken driving cases registered in big cities of Maharashtra? Has there been a drive against overspeeding? What action has been taken on weekend mayhem on streets, besides traffic cases, what has the law and order machinery done to bring sanity to our roads during the night? From the driving licence to the blood test to the fate of witnesses during investigation and trial, it is a broken system, albeit the powers that be talk of zero tolerance.
DOES ZERO TOLERANCE IN THE CURRENT LINGO MEAN TOLERATING EVERYTHING.

Have a nice evening.
