Undeniably AI have been making waves since ChatGPT was unleashed in the public domain on 30th of Nov 2022. Since then there has been no looking back for Artificial Intelligence, and products and tech variants have been falling out of the AI closet with an astounding regularity. If you are missing out on those, you are certainly missing out on the world of the future. Not only recently but since the GPT revolution, and might be ever since the IBM Waston days or even earlier there have not been many who have driven this technology at the global level.
Starting from Geoffrey Everest Hinton, known for his works on artificial neural networks, and better known as the Godfather of AI, not many have made it to the informal Hall of Fame of AI in it’s not so long a tumultuous history. Some delivered but not found much of open recognition, might be the companies concerned made the better of them. Demis Hassabis has been in forefront since he founded DeepMind, the Alpha series of pathbreaking AI tools to his recent Nobel Prize, and the two shining stars, the trailblazer Sam Altman of the GPT series culminating in ChatGPT and on the hardware side Jensen Huang, who are propelling AI compute exponentially and defining it too.
Some streaks these tech visionaries were known to the world, even before their path breaking products were delivered. But nobody shot out of the blue as Liang Wenfeng and shot into global tech stardom. He is none other than the founder and CEO of DeepSeek, who put the prevailing AI models on their head and redefined AI trajectory. By now there would barely be anybody who wouldn’t have heard of DeekSeek. His breakthroughs in AI have made him both a national icon and global tech titan. He marks the tilt or resurgence in the changing global AI geography.
For China he has emerged as the defining figure in the country’s quest for global leadership in artificial intelligence. It was in January that DeepSeek’s release stunned Silicon Valley and propelled Liang onto the global stage. Before this great feat he is credited to have created one of China’s top four quant trading firms. He co-founded High-Flyer Quant in 2015. As High-Flyer’s computing power began to exceed its trading needs, is where his AI journey began. In 2019 he established an AI lab. By early 2023, he spun the lab into an independent entity named DeepSeek, dedicated to LLM development. As they proverbially say, the rest is history.
DEEPSEEK HAS BEEN A WATERSHED MOMENT TO SWITCH OVER TO RADICALLY DIFFERENT MODELS OF AI.
