VIBE CODING – THE ROAD AHEAD

If you have not heard of vibe coding, you are in sync with the developments regarding AI facilitation of it. Coders have been the backbone of the IT industry and the manual coding can end one day, was not even in the weirdest thoughts of all of us leave aside the coder. It has been the dream of non-coders to be able to manage with the code, without having to learn coding. Proficiency was never going to come by anyway. The non-coders dream being accomplished seems to be round the corner. The magic bullet is Vibe Coding.
Vibe coding is described as a relaxed, intuitive and flow driven approach to writing code.

Coding happens in a state of flow – feeling inspired, creative, and productive with minimal distractions and often with a sense of enjoyment. How does it transform coding? As on date commercial software development cannot rely solely on vibe coding, but for sure, it can be a valuable part of the process, especially in the early stages. It works well for prototyping, creative frontend work, hackathons and MVPs and solo dev projects. Efforts are on to take it to the next level and the big boys of tech and AI seem to have interest in it. Maybe they can smell a transformation in the making.

Bloomberg reports that ‘Apple, Anthropic Team Up to Build AI-Powered ‘Vibe-Coding Platform.’ This is with the purpose to develop a new “vibe-coding” software platform that uses artificial intelligence to write, edit and test code on behalf of the programmers. This program is expected to be the new version of Xcode, Apple’s programming software and will integrate with Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet model, is the grapevine in the industry. The initiative has not been announced officially. It has been decided to roll out the software internally. It would be decided only later whether it would be launched publicly.

What does Apple gain in the process? It would be using AI to improve its internal workflow, aiming to speed up and modernise product development. A similar approach to Windsurf and Cursor maker Anysphere, which offer advanced AI coding assistants popular with software developers. Apple’s announcement of its own AI-powered coding tool Xcode called Swift Assist in 2024 did not fructify. The Anthropic partnership is an acknowledgement of outside help needed, with two systems if successful would finally work together. For the uninitiated, amongst the major large LLMs, Anthropic’s Claude is known as one of the best when it comes to programming.

WILL ‘VIBE CODING’ REACH THE STAGE OF STANDING ON ITS OWN FEET IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
