The history of search is the history of mankind or so it seems. The history of knowledge is what a search delivers. Search means Google. Modern day world treats Google as a single, so to say, monolith knowledge repository rather than random purposed collection of dispersed digital knowledge. What propels Google’s world of knowledge and tool it uses, has been none of our concern, that it works like a flawless utility is what we are bothered about. But iconic products and services need to revisited at times, more so when a promising boy in born challenging the rules of the game, ChatGPT as the name goes.
PageRank is the algorithm that created Google. The co-founders of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin developed PageRank at Stanford University in 1996 as a part of a project about new kind of search engine. Rest is history we all know, and keep experiencing every single day of our life, on every single digital device. Might be PageRank is first common single language of the world, without even knowing of its name. PageRank (PR) ranks web pages in their search engine results. It is said to have been named after both the term ”web page’ and co-founder Larry Page. It is a method of measuring the importance of web pages. DeepMind a jewel in this field was founded in 2010 became a wholly owned by Alphabet Inc. in 2015. OpenAI remains not for profit since its inception. Generative pre-training, GPT became is forte starting 2018. GPT-2 was announced in Feb 2019 and complete version released in Nov 2019. Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3, commonly called GPT-3 was released in May 2020 was licensed exclusively to Microsoft in Sept 2020. This has been the game changer and has been making waves in tech circles since then. When the world was waiting for GPT-4, the contours and lots of debate over the nature of large language models, that the real game changer arrived.
Ease of use is what made Google Search what it is today. Ease of use marks the new AI avatar, that too on the chat mode and with endless possibilities. ChatGPT as it is known was launched on 30th Nov. 2022 and has garnered worldwide attention and following. It has already hit one million users. ChatGPT is a conversational model, the dialogue format makes it possible to answer follow up questions, admit it mistakes, challenge incorrect premises and reject inappropriate requests. ChatGPT is a sibling model to Instruct GPT. ChatGPT is successor to GPT3.5 Working in an interactive mode it can answer questions, assist you in tasks such as composing mails, essays, any writing and also write code for you. It seems this tool has made the quantum leap. Its discrepancies too, it gives us the confidence of its journey to perfection.
