OPEN AI’s DALL-E 2 – A NEW WORLD OF IMAGES
The whole world of images so creatively guarded is going to change forever. Computers with all its exponential improvement would still find it impossible to get into the area of art was thought to be truism. It was also presumed that this area was beyond machine, the world of imagination and creativity, of trained mind and hand, totally free in their thought, experimental in framework and free from the regimented idea of time. Art means what is finally produced and of what worth and not what amount of time and resources it has taken. Far away from this thought and process, comes the revolutionary AI tech in this field in the from of DALL-E 2.
An offering of OpenAI, DALL-E 2, in its second version, it already making waves. Bringing in text prompts to create images and the user in no way able to connect it to a database or might be even a large number of databases, is the doable digital fancy it has woven for us. The images / art are being created in 8 to 10 seconds, is the world which is being ushered in for us. Text to image and that too created on the details provided in the prompt text was something unimaginable only a few years back. The volume the platform deals is humongous, unimaginable to date. Getty, the venerable stock image site boasts of catalog of 80 million images, Shutterstock offers 415 million images, DALL -E 2 is generating over two million images a day. It would equal Getty and Shutterstock combined in eight months. The algorithm is already producing almost as many images daily as the entire collection of free image site Unsplash.
DALL-E 2 now is open for everyone, but the access is restricted and there is waiting list of folks eager to get their hands on the algorithm. Some such algorithms have been available earlier, but the pace is likely to accelerate from here. This image creator super machine generates multiple images for every prompt, image quality varies widely and it might also happen that even the best work might need some polishing by a practiced hand. It’s just the beginning to a brave new digital imaging world, which would finds its niche in the days to come, as with every pathbreaking digital product. It’s now very clear that DALL-E 2 and others are unprecedented image making machines. Hence, the release of DALL-E 2 earlier this year has been the talk of the tech world.
