TAXED FOR INEFFICIENCY, TIME & COST OVERUN, UNNECESSARY TASKS…
Tax is necessary cut on your legal income which is used for running the government, for infrastructure projects, for life changing projects, for health / education, creation of employment and above all social security. In all, the life of the citizen should keep on improving and the nation should keep on scaling newer heights. This is reason for the sanctity of taxes we pay and for the very same reason it is claimed to be used for the purpose of nation building. The account of the money, the work attended and the impact thereof does not come back to the electorate.
With the votes you cast, you also cease the rights to claim anything about your welfare and the elected representatives do the rest for you in the legislature. For the rest in the governments, few of the political executive call the shots and it goes through a process that is laid down to provide it the requisite legality. Then it is good to go and literally goes beyond any further scrutiny. One in a while a court case or a AG /CAG remark is not of any great consequential value. The story goes on. Governments after governments it has been happening with immense precision, the only issue is whether projects / schemes / activities decided are being decided in consonance with the ground level requirements, being executed on time and making the impact it is meant to make.
If you do a survey across the nation, I have no idea how many of the taxpayers, (in numbers not even in percentages) would absolve the government of inefficiency, time and cost overruns, duplication, unnecessary projects / tasks, money spend on the luxury of the powers that be, missing out on the real requirements, over pricing and last but not the least corruption. The hidden agendas add to the issues which are already complex and it if we add up the creaky procurement mechanism and the infamous execution of a variety of a projects, the story seems to be complete.
Corruption has been consistently changing governments for quite some time now, but continues to play an important role in every new government avatar. Is misuse endemic to our system? Do people come into this mechanism for fun, frolic, personal, luxury, easy life and all powers with no accountability. Take 2G case for instance, the price of performing the auction, the CAG audit, criminal case investigation, judicial trial, cost of jail stay, prosecution et al are all paid by the taxpayer, what did he get in return. Morbi can be recent example, multifarious dimensions, all at the cost of taxpayers. Bofors to Rafale, right or wrong, true or false, the taxpayers foot the bill. Deliberate time and cost overruns are legendary in the country. If with the taxes being paid, the taxpayer has to grease the palm is travesty of the system which we had promised.
