ARE RATIONAL EMOTIONS / FEELINGS / SENTIMENTS / ATTACHMENT AT THE CORE OF PROFESSIONALISM?
At the core of professionalism is objectivity, dry approach, goals & methodologies is what we have grew up with, slowly getting into our DNA and in a way defining the professional culture the world over. The history of success in the modern world, manifests immense attachment as the prime mover & facilitates its sustenance from political figures; Nelson Mandela to Putin, business leaders from Steve Jobs to Elon Musk & social activists from Vinoba Bhave to Anna Hazare.
True professionalism is a way beyond the business theories & case studies dished out in a routine manner to students. The teacher in the Guru form has a umbilical cord relationship with the student. A mercenary teacher taught relationship has brought us where we are today. This learning thus ingrained yields results in building professional bridges.
Lack of this trait is at the core of attrition & bickerings which organisations have to grapple with, regularly. Sense of belonging is missing and with it the urge to give back to the organisation. A mechanically jointed organisation can at best sustain run of the mill products & deliverables, which can be termed as ticks on the checklist. It happens & it does not, the way you look at it. You have supposedly progressed & yet remain at the same place.
With all the refresher courses & certifications both in the industry & the academic the quality does not improve. A decline is perceptible. Heart & mind is missing. IQ can only deliver with EQ. EQ in its extrapolation is the connect with product & services you are bound to deliver, at the quality prescribed. With intense attachment, the delivery is bound to be much better. This is the relationship which M S Swaminathan had with Green Revolution, Steve Jobs with Apple products & Elon Musk with Tesla electric cars. Professionalism taught today is upside down.
UMBLICAL CORD RELATIONSHIP IS THE ANTIDOTE TO CRASH PROFESSIONALISM.
