BE A CHANGE AGENT. BE A TEACHER. Happy Teacher’s Day.
Teacher’s Day in India is being celebrated since 1962 on the birthday of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, scholar, statesman, teacher & a President, as our respect to the teachers community & our resolve that transformation can happen only through teaching. The qualities of a teacher is conspicuously manifested in the life of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, who was quintessentially a teacher. He is an inspirational role model for aspirational India on the cusp of change through knowledge & technology. An effort to emulate him can energise & transform the teaching fraternity of the nation.
Though the Gurukul system went out of vogue yet the practising of its core values, can only create a sustainable educational system, capable enough to create a Gennext to match the dreams of the nation. It’s connotes to empathy in the most pure form & taking the ownership to groom a child. Rest will seamlessly follows. The dynamic values will follow. The technology orientation, how to value skills, hands on for everything, handling modern communication issues will have to blend with core values. The great Indian teaching tradition will thus flourish in most modern digital setting, creating a unique Indian matrix of change with confidence & in control of our destiny.
Teacher is the first role model for a child. The world is replete with stories how one single remark or one field experience provided by a teacher or a gentle push & at times even a harsh rebuke has transformed the lives of students to do the extraordinary & contribute. They have been the first influencers much beyond anybody else in a child’s lives. If classroom after classroom is inspired in, cumulatively is becomes an inspired nation.
It’s time to give teachers their due. Recognition, appreciation, right position in society, a career path of growth & satisfaction. And a financial compensation to provide mental peace to outperform themselves in this noble task. Only teachers can make India ready to be a superpower.
A COUNTRY IS WORTH ITS TEACHING FRATERNITY
