COMMAND & CONTROL CENTER

Police control room with a dial 100 facility has been the order of the day for quite some time. The next stage was to  integrate the Police Control Room Vans,  PCRs, to the control room mechanism, with call takers,  enabled with a GPS capabilities  to bring down the  response time to acceptable levels.  The software & the documentation at the back end brought  transparency & better control  of the police response infrastructure. A  paradigm shift  in communications technology, diverse inputs & humungous  increase in the requirements due counter terror requirements necessitated change.

The control room consequently had to transform into what we call as the  Command & Control Center,  its creation being a huge  technological challenge,  nonetheless, the benefits that accrue more than compensates the efforts. The effort is achieve much  higher situational awareness, manage threats  & also secure the organisation. Public security & safety is a challenge from the  most conventional to cyber security.

In 20th century we had  ‘componentized’ systems.  It was generally a simple plug system performing a single dedicated task, the traditional wireless can be an example. All changed with security technologies started  migrating to computer platforms.  The added capabilities came with at a price   complexity.  These systems need  IT skills to design, implement & support.  A perfect marriage of domain, technology & the ever changing requirements. This is the new world of  converged security.

Technology is no longer an  add-on’, it is actually interwoven  with the facility & its mission specific systems. From video to data all converge in on single dashboard based on a  C4i software,  capable of  providing information & intelligent analysis,  sufficient enough for the police manager to make the  most well informed decision.  Command & Control Center will provide this transformation.

THE OPERATIONAL TECHNICAL WIZARDRY OF COMMAND & CONTROL CENTER WILL REDEFINE POLICING.
