INNOCUOUS RULES THE WORLD
Innocuous means not interesting, stimulating or significant; insipid. The world was supposed to be exactly the opposite. It is generally presumed that if the opposite is the destination you have to go into a non-professional trajectory, holiday, sports, friends, adventure etc. This is clearly an indication of the fact that professional work is enthusing very few people with feelings it should. The look on most of the professionals gives a haggard look that they are doing something they are forced to and not what they are enjoying.
The destination should be fun in work and adrenaline should run high taking the work to a different mode. This means the work should give the same feeling as that of a renowned football player, a singer, a danseuse or even a surgeon whose satisfaction is writ large on his face. The professional technology work environment has completely gone awry, fun the job provides is not in the work but in weekend party coupons and other small freebies.
Whether these professionals had ever imagined their work as fun is a different story. Most of them looked at it as a cash vending machine at the end of every month. But for self created or HR company created CVs and end of the month money transfer nothing more was expected out the job. And it is providing precisely that. Technology and more so IT / software development / algorithms are extremely creative tasks and if it does not provide the inner thrill and fun, the product ends up reflecting the abject pain gone through in its creation.
The lack of expertise also makes the job insipid. The job requirements turn out to be tiring. They cannot understand a new domain, which is their main task. So the via media of professional existence of being SRS centric, superfluous documentation, management process and what not. Innocuous thus rules the world. The results are seen everywhere. It has taken out fun from even their supposedly fun activities.
GETTING FUN BACK TO WORK IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRANSFORM THE NATION.
