INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY – THE FUTURE IS HERE
“In a historic move, Air India’s longest direct route flight with an all-women pilot team landed at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru from San Francisco recently, flying over the North Pole.” The interesting fact is that this flight covered 16,000 kms non-stop. It was the first any Indian pilot team had achieved this feat. The future is already here, literally and metaphorically.. This future should not be for a select few, the downward filtration theory should work with full pace and opportunities already there, have to be grabbed or exploited to their best advantage. International women’s day is not the celebration of day but of a lifetime, abundantly many who want to make it a torrent of women power.
What was earlier called the crisis of aspirations is slowly turning out to be a slew of achievements. The opportunities over a period of time have come to an equitable status today, what is coming in way is the ecosystem. Variety of such incidents we witness on a regular basis from temple entry to non-constitution of Vishaka Committees. The sentiments and law are ready to make everything happen, the perseverance of those, who have to make it happen and toil in entails is missing at places. The fascinating part is that unlike earlier attempts after a target was transcended in any field, now it will never fall in the crevices again. The system has the capability to consume and sustain that change and make it permanent.
We have seen such changes happening in a number of areas and it has come to stay. ISRO team is one such shining example, where women scientists have led from the front. In an area so unconventional, delivering results consistently and gaining expertise and positions to be reckoned with is extremely praiseworthy. Technology as an area is all encompassing, a sizable presence would ease the way for easier transition in lots of other areas. It would be a tremendous morale booster and the battle tilts in your favor. Role models are only one part of the story, it’s time to gain sizable control of the mainstream by humungous presence, the proportion which should duly go to women.
Education is a great bulldozer of change and leveler of things which have never been leveled in human history. Education covers in a way knowledge, expertise and competencies, which never fail. It’s time this area is taken up with full vigor by young girls and new ones in different fields to prove what they are worth. It’s difficult for all but to become new entrants it is a little more difficult. Academic accomplishments are not new to young girls, they have led for decades, it is time they transform that edge into professional entry, in large numbers and sustain to reach the top. Time has come, it ought to happen. Make it happen.
WITH OPPORTUNITIES AND CAPABILITIES BOTH AVAILABLE IN PLENTY, THE WOMEN’S PUSH TO GLORY WILL HAPPEN SOONER THAN LATER.
