ON YOUR FINGERTIPS…

This adage is used all our lives. From classes to exams to meetings to board appearances, this is treated as a dire necessity, failing which your merit & competency is in question. World transformed and the world’s knowledge become available at the click of a mouse. Google has become the extension of our grey matter. Has this is any way helped to bring valuable professional knowledge on your fingertips?

The transformation is nowhere to be seen. The ability of a student or a professional to have information on his fingertips still remains to be the sole preserve of a very few. These are generally the people who had the edge in the pre-digital age, only they used the modern tools to stay ahead. Same for business enterprises. Very difficult to name a few persons excelling only because of the ready availability of information. Availability does not create the transformation, the capability to use it diligently makes it happen.

At the click of the mouse speaks of only the ease? Ease for whom? There are lots of open book exams conducted and performance remains as in conventional exams. Herein, lies the catch. Do we have the skills to lay our hands on the right resource with precision & use it for the appropriate requirements with a deft mind. At the end of the day the product matters & nothing else, effort notwithstanding. The enabler cannot become the output without any effort.

The ingredients don’t become a culinarily delight on its own, however much we want it to happen. The processing & the processor is critical. Are you the processor and conversant are you with the processing? The click of the mouse is a misnomer having no capability to provide communication skills either written or oral. At the end of the day, you have nothing is on your fingertips and no capability to take it further into an excellent document, impact making presentation and least project execution. This is the challenge of our times.

THE CLICK OF THE MOUSE DOES NOT TRANSFORM, AUTOMATICALLY, INTO KNOWLEDGE ON YOUR FINGERTIPS.
