THE ART OF STORYTELLING
Communication is the art of storytelling. Life is one long saga of opportunities exploited or lost, ideas which made a difference to your life & specific individual experiences. These experiences ought to be narrated and that is storytelling.
Facts, figures, data which we flaunt as milestones of the modern world fades into oblivion by the end of a conversation or a lecture and story makes it permanent imprint in your heart and mind. It’s so easy to fall back on a story as a reference point and also to find solace in it. Art of storytelling and consequent listening has long been the part of human nature and culture.
It’s the most effective way to pass moral and societal values from one generation to the other.
Human knowledge is a repository of stories and human brain has cognitive ability to understand, retain and tell stories. Stories in reality mirror human thoughts and as we think in narrative structures, we mostly remember facts in story form.
“It is the contact between the storyteller and the story listeners that makes a story come to life.” That connect is the magic and to make it happen is the the job neatly cut out for a communicator.
The intangible connect, getting it right again and again, with all types of audiences, on an array of topics is the ultimate art mastered by the most effective of the communicators. It’s so irresistible, you get glued to the communicator.
THE ART OF STORYTELLING IS THE DNA OF HUMAN COMMUNICATION.”
