ON A SALES PITCH!

Sales, marketing, advertising and to an extent branding have been part and parcel of business enterprises since its inception because of the inherent nature of business development, small or big. Being on a sales pitch is drastically different from what has been defined. It means a state of mind wherein you try to impress, position, create or even camouflage a persona which you are not, or scale oneself up way beyond your real positioning and worth. It is done relentlessly with obsession and passion.

As this becomes the only way to achieve whatever you intend to, life moves on to a totally different trajectory. It might even lead to some self-objectification in a world dominated by social media. From a selfie smitten world to the carefully crafted lines inserted in your CV at the end of even every official event you attend, it smacks of a sales pitch. Everybody seems to have be sold to the idea that you have to do your own marketing.

What is lost in the process is the most valuable thought & practice; what you deliver is your sales pitch in modern parlance. The way you live and carry yourself with character and demeanour is where you stand in life. What use are you for your family, society and community is you societal positioning. What skills, knowledge and competencies you have created in yourself out of your decades of hard work in your real sales pitch in the professional world. With none of modern gimmicks, you will still be person to watch and not transitory.

Petty selling is the weapon of the unworthy and weak, people who love to find the easy way out and who publicly proclaim that one would not be able to achieve much the professional way. Given the On a Sales Pitch mindset, the time left for brick and mortar work, navigating the tough professional learning landscape and developing the wherewithal for delivery vastly diminishes.

ON A SALES PITCH EMANATES OUT OF HAVING NOTHING TO SELL.
