Paris AI Action Summit 2025 took place in the background of groundbreaking developments in this field, with the global leadership convinced of the fact that this apex technology will lead the world. The immediate backdrop of DeepSeek made it all the more intense as it demolished all established models and myths regarding LLMs. DeepSeek promises to redefine the AI world, how far it can reach, only time will tell. AI is not a close and shut technology, even now it has innumerable frontiers for your dreams and to make it happen. It is for precisely for this reason the world’s AI glitterati converged in Paris.
This type of conglomerate nature summit barely happens, but it was meant to be that way. Propelled by the AI movers and shakers technologists and companies who are bringing AI to the ground to every stakeholder, who could make worthwhile value add was there. The summit discussed the trajectory of AI as the world would like it to happen. It also brought forth the details of the accomplishments so far, and what is the trajectory ahead, more so underlining how momentous would be the impact of this technology, across sectors and geographies, to the future of mankind. Democratization of this technology and its governance remained the main concern.
It was a moment for India as it was co-chaired by PM Modi, who underlined the criticals of AI’s relevance as we move forward and gave a glimpse into India’s efforts in that direction. One would have expected a sizable presence of speakers from India, in the various sessions, making our presence felt and also making the world know of the AI strides taken by India. If the future of humanity is decided in your absence, because you were busy with mundane stuff, the nation will not be exempt from its consequences. Though we were the co-chair, we were conspicuous by our absence when the action was on, to flag all what was required from our standpoint and also be the tech voice of the global south.
The tall claims being made internally that we are at the cusp of cracking a LLM model shortly could have found traction there. Besides delving into AI gyan and practice, it was a complete package, large scale participation would have brought us glory and we would have got into the global mainstream in cracking AI’s future. The sessions ranged from ‘Scaling Competitive & Sustainable AI Ecosystems Across the Globe to Privacy, Cybersecurity & Information Integrity: Leveraging AI to Protect Democracies. It was the most intense and best attended AI conference the world has witnessed so far. By being there we could build on relationships and momentum. How can we afford to be missing in action in this fast moving AI world?
