Microsoft has unveiled the Surface Laptop Ultra, its most powerful laptop to date, built around Nvidia’s new RTX Spark superchip. The 15-inch machine targets creators, developers, and AI builders with a Blackwell GPU, 20 ARM CPU cores, and up to a petaflop of on-device AI compute.
The laptop offers up to 128GB of unified memory that the CPU and GPU share dynamically, enabling heavy tasks like 3D rendering and multi-model AI workflows to run locally rather than constantly relying on the cloud. Its mini‑LED PixelSense Ultra touchscreen delivers very high HDR brightness, matching the premium hardware found in 16-inch work laptops.
Analysts expect pricing to start in MacBook Pro territory (around $3,000) and climb higher for top configurations. Several PC makers plan RTX Spark laptops this fall, signaling a wider shift to premium, AI-first Windows machines that compete directly with Apple’s lineup.
Battery life under intense AI loads and software optimization will determine real-world value, but the Surface Laptop Ultra is a clear milestone: it brings workstation-level AI to a portable form factor and could change where and how professionals run AI workflows.
