SpaceXAI’s new Grok 4.6 is a big deal because it now performs as well as the smartest AI models in the world—but costs much less. Just a year ago, people laughed at Grok, but now it scores 61 on a top AI test, tying with OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol and nearly matching Anthropic’s Fable 5.
This jump happened because SpaceXAI focused on making Grok better at real tasks like coding, legal work, and long conversations, without making it bigger or more expensive. Grok 4.6 charges only $2 for every million words it reads and $6 for every million it writes—about 60% cheaper than rivals. Elon Musk says this makes Grok “objectively No. 1” when you consider smarts, speed, and cost together.
Grok’s rise wasn’t magic—it was a steady climb. From Grok-1 in 2023 to 4.5 in mid-2026, each version got smarter. Now, with Grok 4.7 coming in 3–4 weeks, Musk promises it will “exceed all current models.” If true, Grok could soon lead the pack, not just catch up.
So, is Grok here to stay? Yes—if it keeps improving at this pace and stays cheap. The next test is Grok 4.7: will it truly beat everyone on intelligence, speed, and price? If it does, Grok won’t just be a contender—it could become the new champion of AI.
