UNITREE’S ROBOT BET

A humanoid robot is a machine built to look and move like a human, with arms, hands and legs. Powered by artificial intelligence, it can learn, make decisions and perform physical tasks. Unitree’s dramatic Shanghai listing has made humanoids the latest symbol of the global AI race. Its shares closed 460% above the IPO price.

Unitree became a leading name because it combines affordable hardware, quick production and global visibility. Its robots are used by universities, research institutions and developers. However, AgiBot reportedly shipped more humanoids than Unitree in the first half of 2026. Unitree is therefore a major player, but not the sole global leader.

The company’s strength comes from engineering, manufacturing scale and China’s robotics ecosystem. Its IPO raised about $900 million, while founder Wang Xingxing’s stake reached nearly $15.9 billion after the surge. But the valuation reflects high expectations: the stock traded at nearly 857 times expected 2026 earnings.

The IPO shows that investors expect humanoids to become the next major technology platform. Yet the real breakthrough may still be years away, as Wang himself has warned. Robots must become safe, reliable and affordable before entering factories, hospitals and homes. This is physical AI—intelligence acting in the real world.

THE ROBOT RACE HAS BEGUN; THE REAL TEST IS USEFULNESS.
