TAKING MILEAGE, LOSING THE CAUSE

Have you ever felt taking mileage is the right thing? Have you always felt that you have not been duly compensated for your work ? Have you generally felt that you should have got more recognition? Are you fine with people not giving the credit you deserve? Have you tried to top up your reputation by citing unconnected work? Do you feel that some achievement at sometime in life should keep on yielding fruits for rest of your life? The issue in question is what comes first; mileage or work. What takes precedence decides your trajectory of life.

The situation has come to such a pass that taking mileage has gained mercenary level professionalism. There are a host of professionals camouflaged in enterprises, social circuits doing this with clocklike precision. The cause itself is lost in the process. Might be the cause / task / project / service was not a part of that individual from the beginning itself. The seminal or nascent thoughts of a goal / work assigned is, what does it’s fulfilment deliver for me.

We have lost most of the causes because  individuals take precedence over the task and hence indirectly over organisations, enterprises and society itself. Do you know of people who have taken credit of difficult and worthy jobs accomplished by other people? Extrapolation is the name of the game, an academic achievement or a degree is pushed as Mileage Medal in unconnected areas of his professional positioning. How many times people have tried to hog limelight on even forgotten glory and how many times have they made a mountain out of molehill.

Social media with it’s virtual cousin digital marketing is adding a worrying dimension to taking mileage, extrapolation, creating success and euphoria, long before something has even been initiated, leave aside it being achieved. The mindset is, as long as you take the mileage, all is fair. Who will create the products, create enterprises, institutions, raise the bar of governance and management models & processes, take humanity higher and higher? The whole concern is of manipulation of achievements small and big and worse even non-existent. Nothing will sustain, not even us.

TAKING MILEAGE OVER EVERYTHING IS TANTAMOUNT TO FENCE EATING THE CROP.
