DO WE NEED A FUTURIST?

Two/thirds of the companies which will rule the world in 2024 are either not born or are too small to be recognized as on date. Enterprises are in for total transformation or decimation. Governments have to completely reinvent themselves to make sense to be the electorate citizens. The expectations will sky rocket and so would be the reactions. Passivity can no longer be part of our normal existence, being fully interactive is the only way to surge ahead. Has the complexity numbed us or are we in fools paradise called comfort level.

Its told that in the days to come there would be no permanent jobs; the shelf life of a job can come down to as little as five years. In this scenario, there is already an expert who in being more sought after than a data scientist and that is a Futurist. He would make a sense out of this churning? Who is he? A Futurist is a professional who can look into the future with the synthesis of domain & disruptive technologies, can find a meaning and create a Blueprint and guide to make it happen. He would understand the business milieu and all interfaces of the day and how it would change as in the days to come in the above discussed landscape.

We struggle from one situation to another trying to grapple the reasons thereof. Might be most of us are not able to fathom the change and decipher the roadmap of the nebulous future. This is where the Futurist moves in. With the depth of his knowledge he can study the system, create a roadmap and can guide the changes to stay abreast. Given the nature of dependence on this skill, there is a need for such a professional in every organization to remain lean, agile and future ready.

Governance is also caught in this vortex of change and so similar professionals need to guide change to stay abreast. With technology being the driver, there is a need of a perfect marriage between domain the appropriate technologies. The government domain thus also needs futurists to guide us to successfully deliver, in the fast changing environment. Few professionals show this streak, it is in the interest of the organization to develop them, mature them and use them.

ONLY A FUTURIST CAN GUIDE AN ENTERPRISE INTO THE NEBULOUS DAYS AHEAD.
