Microsoft locks in revenue share from OpenAI through 2030, tied to calendar dates rather than AGI milestones. The update resolves Microsoft’s earlier lawsuit threats over OpenAI’s $50B deal with Amazon for the Frontier platform. Payments flow both ways without ambiguity, stabilizing finances for both. Amazon’s CEO called it “very interesting” amid OpenAI’s push for multi-cloud options.
In the trillion-dollar AI race, their relationship has undeniably soured without exclusivity as the anchor. OpenAI gains freedom to meet enterprises on their preferred platforms, as noted by its CRO.
