META’S MUSE: META GOES IN-HOUSE WITH CREATIVE AI

Meta today unveiled Muse Image, its first major in-house image model from Alexandr Wang’s Superintelligence Labs, and it arrived with a splash — debuting at No. 2 on Arena’s leaderboards. The model pairs image generation with editing and agentic features via Muse Spark, bringing search and tool use directly into the creative loop.

Rolling out inside Meta AI and soon across Instagram and WhatsApp, Muse Image challenges the status quo that saw Meta rely on partners for creative AI. Its high leaderboard placement, just behind OpenAI’s GPT Image 2, signals real technical muscle rather than a marketing tease.

Even more notable: a Muse Video teaser already ranks strongly, hinting that Meta’s push into video generation could follow fast. For a company with massive social, messaging, and ads surfaces, in-house models unlock tighter product integration and new creative workflows for billions of users.

This is more than hype: from outsourcing to proprietary models, Meta looks set to own the creative stack that fuels its platforms. Greater competition means more options for creators — and a faster race to higher-quality, integrated AI tools.

ALL EYES ON META — THE SOCIAL GIANT IS BUILDING ITS CREATIVE AI KINGDOM.
