Google has made a strong comeback with its new AI model, Gemini 4 Carbon. It has scored 59 on a major AI intelligence ranking, placing it just ahead of Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra. This is a big improvement for Google, especially after spending much of 2026 trying to catch up with its rivals.
Carbon is specially built for cybersecurity and long, complex coding tasks. It can help find software weaknesses, test them, and create fixes, which is why Google is first giving access to selected cyber defenders. However, ordinary users and developers cannot try it yet, so its real-world performance still needs to be proven.
Google is clearly no longer only chasing OpenAI and Anthropic; it is now competing at the very top. But the lead may be temporary because all three companies are releasing powerful models very quickly. Carbon could become a gamechanger if it performs well for the public, but the AI crown will likely keep changing hands.
For mankind, this race brings both hope and responsibility. Better AI can improve healthcare, education, work, and online safety, but it can also be misused for cyberattacks, misinformation, and job disruption. The real winner should not be one company, but a future where AI is powerful, safe, and useful for everyone.
THE AI RACE IS NOT ABOUT WHO RUNS FASTEST, BUT WHO BUILDS A FUTURE WORTH TRUSTING.
