ANTHROPIC SLAMS OPENAI ADS IN SUPER BOWL SHOWDOWN

Anthropic launched a bold Super Bowl ad campaign mocking ads in AI chats. Their spots show funny interruptions, like fitness tips turning into insole pitches or therapy chats pushing dating sites. The tagline hits hard: “Ads are coming to AI. But not to Claude.”

They backed it with a blog post pledging Claude stays ad-free forever. Ads clash with Claude’s goal of true user help, no sponsored links or biased replies. OpenAI started testing ads in free ChatGPT and $8 Go tier in the US, but Plus/Pro plans skip them.

OpenAI fired back fast. CMO Kate Rouch said on X that free ChatGPT reaches 300M+ users weekly, empowering more people than Anthropic’s paid subs. Sam Altman called the ads “clearly dishonest,” promising no intrusive ones and noting Anthropic targets “rich people.”

Ads appear at ChatGPT response bottoms, clearly marked, without selling user data or touching sensitive topics. OpenAI claims answers stay pure. This feud shows clashing AI visions: trust vs. wide free access.
