HOW THE CORRUPT VIEW THE CORRUPT?
The responsive governance of this country and its proactive development does not depend on how men of integrity, expertise and competence view the corrupt. What role they play and how they pull off success after success in most trying of the circumstances. Whether they are relevant to the system or not; it is for the reader to decide but suffice to say they are on the periphery. They are a filler material, if and when required. What is most critical is the way the corrupt view the corrupt? It also extends to the way the law breakers view the offenders / law breakers.
The tragedy does end there. It further extends to how the inefficient view the efficient, how the semi-literate view the men of letters. How the people with proven track records of delivery are viewed by the ones who have never delivered. It also means that people who have been evaluated for their work, evaluate professionals who have regularly performed and got evaluated too. People who have literally never worked view the people who are slogging day in and day out for their well being and of the nation. People who have broadly remained out of the tax net view the taxpayers, becomes life and death for him. They also decided upon how to use the revenue generated by collection.
What percentage of people who have the power to take action against the corrupt are corrupt themselves? If you find this to be a prophetic statement, then give a thought to the next one: what percentage of the ones mandated to run clean and efficient organisations, actually do that. Who attacks the corrupt in their first salvo? The honest or the corrupt, you can take a call. How many of the honest fellows have the authority to call the shots and take it to finality. Whoever is caught is corrupt, if you are not caught even while being in the act neck deep, you are deemed to be honest.
This is the reason why many times it is termed as bad luck, if some person is caught in a corruption case. Whatever might be the law, who defines and dictates de-facto corruption. Who decides on the efforts of its detection, investigation or otherwise. Remember the Anna Hazare agitation, the fate of its prima donnas and of the legislation and institutions created out of it. What do you have to say about the integrity of the credibility of the top audit officer of the country in the 2G spectrum case? One corrupt government falls to usher in another one to outbeat the predecessor. The falling bridges or Pune Posche case, the credibility less, sit in judgement. If such people are to protect the honesty, integrity and credibility of the nation, the less said the better.
FENCE EATING THE CROP IS THE MOST APT IDIOM FOR ALL THAT GOES ON, IN THE NAME OF ANTI-CORRUPTION TIRADE IN THIS COUNTRY.
