IS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION A GLASS CEILING?

You would have heard of a variety of glass ceilings. Technology moving at an exponential pace breaking every ceiling of the day is also a reality. We are filled up with technology till our heart, mind and sentiments. Many can’t even look beyond it. Given this situation plenty, we  are faced with on the one side, on the other we see  tons of issues with no tech solutions. On the professional side in every industry, organization and profession, there is technology solution wish list which generally doesn’t get touched upon. The gaps are visible and so are the new unattended areas.

There are innumerable solutions which can happen with minor tweaking, many with integration issues and many more which have fallen in the crevices of human imagination and not because of dearth of technology. Understanding of the domain thus becomes most important, because that is where the problem lies, the ailment being sorted out by diagnostic devices, facilities and reports can never a treatment to a disease or even be a preventive strategy. We are looking for the technological treatment to a requirement (disease) and this what is technology solution precisely. You can go in for a step by step, phase by phase analogy of creating an apt technology solution, and sustaining it and treating an ailment from the symptoms to the final cure.

Business is the art of making a fast buck and it has been fully accepted by the normative thought process of our society. So where is the question of going out of the way for the customer, creating a specific solution, burning your midnight oil and then making it happen. One great reason why nobody wants to get into the trade of tech solutions, is the sheer effort and uncertainty of its execution. More so, if it is not your baby. Who in the normal Indian tech frame of mind will do that? If you have not been a project execution guy or if you have not done very complex projects / solutions, you would love to do only the mechanical ones. Why risk your life, for hardly any great return.

Creating a technology solution, the best possible one and its execution in the finest manner will not deliver you a booty. It would, at the end of the day, just become a service issue. Even the customer might treat it that way. When product development has been a taboo, and marketing guys only sell products and services, where is the question of reaching out for the illusionary  tech solution. We are traders first and seems we would be traders last, IT or no IT. Managing between products, protocols and services seems to be an uphill task. Is the technologist ready to sweat it out? The loud answer is no. Every sector in the midst of tech problems / requirements, yearning for tech solutions. Who will deliver? It cannot become a permanent glass ceiling.
