Life beyond boundaries, many of you would have heard before, has a proactive democratic, liberal, free world connotation of having the liberty to reach out for the skies and achieve it. You can soar as high as you can and your effort, energy and vision can be the only limiting factors, and nothing else. What is happening in India today, is that barriers are being broken today, in a manner unimaginable, making the system and society look like a pack of cards. The barriers were meticulously built by society over ages, you may call it norms / conventions, if you so desire and democratic conventions; the manner to conduct in public life and business, a prime mover of our existence.
In a modern civilised existence, with the aspirations we talk about, cannot be achieved in free for all type existence, which is slowly becoming the order of the day. It has reached a level where criminality as a concept, legal and social construct / practice has ceased to exist. The conscience of the individual, community and the nation, doesn’t seem to be impacted by criminality being practiced all around the place, for which have got numbed, but also in outlandish instances, there is a feeling that the law breakers, most of them being the habitual ones, will be able to get away. Getting away because of legal lacunae might be one part, but the social acceptability of it is the real challenge.
Starting with generic malaise in the political class which is fine with elected representatives having criminal antecedents. Winability is the only criteria. Large number of lawmakers being serious law breakers themselves, is both a mockery of the system and victory of criminality. Going a step further, there have been a number of governments which have withdrawn criminal cases against whosoever in the political class they wanted to favour and many times even against those who were a part of the cabinet meetings. Criminality has transcends our society and polity.
If this was not enough, then try and remember the Prajwal Revanna case, the barbarism unleashed on a mass scale in the localised muscle men sort of an environment. How it covers the whole of the Indian open skies, was made clear with the electoral bond story. As if that was not enough we find SEBI Chief embroiled in lack of morality, bad conduct, impropriety or criminality is left for you to decide. This was close on the heels of damning allegations after allegations on one of the leading business houses of India. As if this was not enough, the CashGate, has brought out in the open the criminality of an organization, which is mandated to punish the criminals. Has India transcended criminality?
A SOCIETY, POLITY AND ECONOMY TRANSCENDING CRIMINALITY CAN ONLY LEAD TO ITS DOWNFALL.
