AGGREGATION IN PRACTICE – CITY BASED VIDEO SURVEILLANCE NETWORKS
Investigation of Terror attacks across the globe have conclusively proved the utility of CCTV footage for nailing the accused. City based video surveillance systems with video analytics is the logical solution. Unfortunately, Indian cities have not made a great headway and going by the quantum and the capability of the western counterparts, have barely begun. Aggregation seems to be the only answer to gain critical mass at acceptable costs. Legal, technical and operational enablement can follow.
Aggregation of already available CCTV networks in a city based video surveillance grid on the existing fiber optic networks with a multipurpose video command center is a smart solution to an urgent requirement.
