AI HEALTH MAKES HEADWAY
With all pronouncements of path breaking AI, the black box approach of being satisfied with the results will not render any worthwhile service to either the growth of Artificial Intelligence, AI or the domain. The technology is cutting edge, the apex of all but its learning, customisation, application and usage still remains dismal but for IT behemoths. AI in health remains a big ticket story. The reality does not reflect it at all. Where do we find AI in action in the medical services we use? Diagnosis should have revolutionised by now.
Solution is what we want and solution is what we don’t get. The lacunae has been felt for a long time, though many have not been vocal about it because it may do disservice to the cause of health. The recent public announcement of creating a Combined Drug Information Suite is a project which might be the beginning of bringing medical solutions on the fly. Clubbing together of DynaMed and Micromedex with Watson is with the sole objective of furnishing a single point of care clinical decision support solution.
