Amazon, Google, and Microsoft all acknowledge that Anthropic’s AI leads the field, but these tech giants remain unbothered. Amazon increased its investment in Anthropic to $4 billion and now offers Claude 3 models on Amazon Bedrock. All three companies confirmed Anthropic’s products remain available through their cloud platforms even after the Pentagon blacklisted the startup.
The three tech company spokespeople said their lawyers reviewed the blacklist designation and concluded Claude can stay embedded across their systems. Claude is available through Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, and Microsoft’s AI Foundry, making it deeply woven into all three cloud ecosystems.
Amazon’s senior VP Peter DeSantis told CNBC they hope to compete with frontier AI labs OpenAI and Anthropic “in the coming year,” acknowledging their models haven’t yet reached the forefront. Despite Anthropic’s lead, these companies believe they can still win the AI race with their own developments.
These tech giants aren’t panicking because they control the infrastructure — Anthropic needs their clouds to reach customers. Without AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, Claude couldn’t scale. So while Anthropic has the better model today, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft hold the keys to the entire AI kingdom.
THEY DON’T NEED TO BE FIRST—THEY OWN THE ROAD EVERYONE MUST DRIVE TO WIN!
