ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND BUSINESS SCHOOLS

Available data on the number of students taking to entrepreneurship passing out from top Business Schools of the country in the last few years is in abysmal single digit. This is even more dismal when we take the batch strength in the range of 300-400 and even more. The name Business School would serve the purpose when at least a chunk of those develop the capabilities and courage to do business. Creating cogs in the wheels of the MNC corporate machines seems to the the regular choice.

The hefty fees seems presently is argued to be going against the entrepreneurship mood, repayment of the education loans is the villain. The figures of earlier years can establish whether there is a direct causal relationship between the two. Whether risk taking, being independent, also an employer, ready to take the untrodden path and contribute to the growth story of the nation ever plays on the minds of these people? Business leadership as a skill should not happen only at the end of the long corporate career.

The capability to create a business should be the final goal of any business school. Will in-depth success stories of the current innovative tech entrepreneurs who have changed our world, if taught in methodical manner, focusing on the learnings make a difference of not? The travails, their failings, the ecosystem neatly dissected would make a world of difference in the students world view of business and entrepreneurship.

The current world is all about new idea and how it has been and can be applied. There is no dearth of world class tech and management literature even in the form bestsellers, which would out beats what is taught in most of the business schools. These have to be given an academic and structured form. Incorporating these critical features in B School curriculum can make a difference in having a pool of entrepreneurs with the potential to create Unicorns after Unicorns or not. StartUp has to be a connected story to the education imparted.

BUSINESS SCHOOLS SHOULD HELP CREATE BUSINESSES TO FAST FORWARD THE NATION’S GROWTH.
