This terrible situation is a reality. Something which might even fade, putting the tragedy at the time of partition. There is no need to get into the causal factors, which needs no debate. The most fascinating aspect of this Pandemic Purge is that each constitutional element has fulfilled it’s duty and it has still happened. Implementation of COVD-19 is somebody else’s duty and not election commission’s. Hundreds of pages of affidavits and caustic judicial remarks are making rounds. The political parties have made it clear that if one party breaks the norms, others would also do. They have proven it. The same drama is being played in Telangana now. It is black marketed mind individually of all concerned and together that can be termed anarchy.
The most visible face of Indian democracy; the sound bite, photo-op and rabble rousers always, have just vanished from the public space. Amongst them, with political workers and depth of knowledge of the constituencies, they can provide actionable intelligence against the black marketeers. The absence of this information to the governmental machinery has its own story. The executive and their expert wings meant to curb these activities are not able to lay their hands on these guys to break their chain and gain control of the supply chain of oxygen and Remdesivir types drugs is not understandable. Our enforcement is so weak that even with draconian powers they can’t deliver, that too during a humanitarian crisis.
Somebody else bears the brunt. Medical frontline warriors are being attacked. The frustration has to come out somewhere, the system is completely broken. Anarchy is generally understood as a very challenging law and order situation not getting controlled. Dying patients not able to make entry inside a hospital to the mayhem and corruption at the cremation grounds is not anarchy. Black marketeering of oxygen and remdesivir thrives across the country, while the enforcement agencies and elected governments are not able to make any worthwhile dent to it. Videos in the public domain have tons of evidence. Who is ready to pick it up? This is an anarchy of a different kind. We are already in unchartered waters, no one knows what will happen next.
