PROFESSIONAL PUBLIC SPEAKING

PROFESSIONAL PUBLIC SPEAKING

I have always prefixed professional to public speaking for the simple reason that it’s not oratory, a conversationalist dialogue, a story narrated aloud or an emotional outburst. Public speaking rather refers to geography of the location and also the participative nature of the audience. A professional speaker, speaking to his fraternity in a regular professional forum would technically not fall in this domain.

Professional firstly refers to the comprehensiveness of public speaking where the relevant professional knowledge is provided an acceptable and appropriate connect to the world. Most often than not, the contrary is true, the speaker is not ready to get into the nuances of the topic given but keeps on dishing out whatever he wants, even at the cost of annoyance of the audience.

It is also unprofessional to deliver exactly the same lecture, even though of good quality, again and again making no changes with the passage of time or nature of the audience, till the time your reputation precedes you and the audience is mentally off as soon as you start with the lecture.

Professional public speaking also entails the ability to do justice to the time provided, even with a last minute change in the duration of talk, abnormally either way, with the depth and clarity of knowledge as required and in the language and delivery style so as to provide the right feel to the audience, facilitating knowledge transfer.

A PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER FULFILLS THE DESIRED WANT OF THE AUDIENCE TO ACQUIRE RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE COMFORTABLY.
