THE FUNCTIONALITY LIES IN THE DETAIL

Detailing as a science or an art, human beings are not comfortable with, with a fond wish that whatever they wish, vaguely contoured, should happen. The real devil lies in the lack of detail, making any project or policy counter productive.

Steve Jobs had an keen eye for detail from design to packaging and today world itself stands as a testimony to his wonderful creations. From impact making presentations to Think Different ads to the creation of Apple Stores has the stamp of a master who had perfected the art of detailing. Visionary is one who puts life into an idea, a 360 degrees master of his project, to the minutest detail.

The same model applies to policies, workflows, processes, systems, structures and more often than not these great ideas don’t take a tangible shape and if they do, they are stunted, not full grown, matured and capable to stand on their own.

One you start the detailing the hiccups will throw up, the data / design / finances / resources / time, nothing will add up in the manner you had visualized as a thinker or a dreamer. This is a professional struggle, the struggle of a doer. Knowledge, patience and perseverance is the key, traits you will pick up as fish take to water, if functional detailing is what you have set out for.

Detailing is not menial job left to people down the line, it’s like neurons to the brain. It’s not just a document to be submitted.

Otherwise, what I often say, everybody is successful on a ppt.

THE SUCCESS OF A PROJECT OR A POLICY IS DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO ITS TECHNICAL & FUNCTIONAL DETAILING.
