No business entity can claim that they have the best Human Resources in the world, the best understanding of the present trend / its future and the best capability to put the top business idea into action . Crowd sourcing is a reality and the future of business, undoubtedly. It’s no longer just fund creation, it’s the genesis of ideas and the main propellant of innovation. The governments have been throwing up problems to the public for solutions even before Napolean with an associated prize money, at times.
Fast forward, XPRIZE, is the flavor of the day . Founded by legendary Peter Diamandis & others, its redefining our future, through open innovation and huge cash prizes and support to make the idea turn into reality. It’s mission is ‘radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity .’ The most high profile of the XPRIZE has been Ansari X Prize related to spacecraft development awarded in 2004.
Technology was once the monopoly of governments & big businesses is now through smart phones in everyone’s pocket. This is what we call as the democratization of problem solving. Crowdsourcing, thus becomes an intricate instrument with outreach to global Human Resources to source out, world solutions. ‘Moonshots’ as we call it, ‘ that accelerate the pace of invention for desperately-needed innovation.’ Abundance for all, through crowdsourced innovation, is the mantra.
Crowdsourcing open innovation comes through diversity . It’s mimics bio models, puts interdisciplinary approaches and solutions on the platter and helps create an ecosystem which is ideally suited for the exponential age and disruptive technologies. No government or company can match the cumulative power of the intellectual resources available to the world. Best resources of companies too put time, energy and passion on crowd platforms, their ultimate satisfaction. Mindsets and attitudes have to align to this reality.
