THE TECHNOLOGY PUSH

THE TECHNOLOGY PUSH

There seems to be a unanimous decision by one & all to go in for Technology Push. That is the future.  Variety of enterprises of all types jumped into the fray to sell their standard products, in the standard manner, notwithstanding the lack of understanding of the domain, the context, the capability to create, customize, tweak, integrate and deliver.  A product is not a solution & a solution is not a product is the adage of the day.

From humungous big ticket projects to small gadgets all follow the same well established track, wherein the customer requirement or the requirements of the project is the last thing on the business enterprises mind. The business reviews always measures the quarterly performance with the targets given.  Understanding the functionalities, the business logic, technical requirements and the impact of the solution is certainly not their baby.  The external interface is just cash transfers.

Sometimes, it reaches ridiculous levels when the business enterprise starts teaching the requirements and later the domain as well.  Internal Security has been at this threshold for quite sometime now. Gadgets, softwares & apps are being strewn all around the place like nobody’s business.  Undercutting the business competitors by hook or by crook and sometimes using  outwardly paternalistic stance of helping and guiding the customer to subserve business interests are the normal ploys taken.

This business model has failed to yield the desired results; wherever it has, the pain and pangs can be termed as Himalayan at the least.  That cannot become the order of the day.  We have to accept and appreciate the fact that in this bold new technological world order, as much as the general products matter,  much more than that is the requirement of delivering a solution ideally suited for the requirement, with no quality and timeline compromises.

TO FACILITATE TECHNOLOGY PUSH TO HAPPEN , PRIME MOVERS ARE  MASSIVE MINDSET &  BUSINESS MODEL CHANGES.
