CORONA TIMES – THE INTENSITY OF EXPERIENCE
The modern man goes through variety of experiences, nonetheless, barely anything adds to his persona. At the end of any experience is a primarily a claim of having achieved something and not of picking up any great behavioural trait or an attitudinal discovery for a lifetime. The experience has to be gone through, it is never lived through. It is something like being physically present at some location rather than having the awareness to feel, assesses, process and assimilate. Those who do are the winners of life. They can lead by the robustness of their experience. Knowledge may at times go wrong, but never this intensity of experience. You active interface with the situation defines you for the days ahead.
The inner urge of us all is to get back to where we started at the end of any forced or even self initiated experience. To change is not the urge. Even in most critical of the times as it stands today, the urge is to get back to our Swiggy, Zomata, weekend, holiday, shopping types lifestyle rather that to feel the intensity of experience, we have been forced to be in. Forced experiences at times become the best teachers of life. Provided you are ready to learn.
Can there be a life in standstill, in a logjam? We thought it does not exist. We should have everything of our choice. We give best to our children, the best being to make them as frivolous as we can. Even a holiday had a pace, a pre-decided agenda and more often than not a mission to be accomplished. Community was slowly made redundant. The individual could happily survive on his own. The hotels and the guest houses became our homes. Thinking was a luxury we could not afford.
Can thinking and reflecting become a way of life with this Greatest Pause mankind has ever experienced. It’s true we will come out of with different experiences, mostly being forgotten at the earliest. Those who have reflected on the intensity of this experience, should be ones who should define the world to come. With lessons from all our follies that have landed us here, to the battle with the mess we are in, all the mental tussle with fears and the imagination of future, whilst in this intense experience, will define our pragmatic future.
