ELON MUSK’s ADVICE – TO TECHIES OF A MAKE BELIEVE WORLD

The techies and the tech companies are of the view that what they think of the world is the real world. That they have sufficient enough capabilities to do a tech job and manage the world; the engineer and the would-be scientist is convinced from the day he gets his undergraduate degree. Most intriguing of the misconceptions is precisely about learning itself, the amount of learning they require and the way that can be acquired. The corporates after the crazy colleges have their own way of proving their employee’s worth; motivational to leadership courses to the work life balance ones. Besides that, they have endless training / certification courses, skill enhancement and what not, nobody ever challenges the content, methodology and worth of it.
They certainly keep the companies afloat and keep the cash registers ringing. Nonetheless, those who are able to make even a small dent to our existence come with their own thought process, and there might not be any clear-cut similarity in all their routes taken. What has been similar is that they had the capability to find their own routes. One such person is Elon Musk who besides his endless credentials to his name is the richest man in human history. Doing the unimaginative seems to be his ultimate passion. All that we have forgotten in a so-called focused and expert professional is being reiterated by him. Though he makes rockets yet whatever he wants the next generation to do, in not rocket science.
For the young people who want to do something big, his simple advice was ”try to be useful.” He gives a clarion call to do things which are useful to fellow beings and to the world. He warns that, ”It’s hard to be useful,” and urges the young people to ”contribute more than you consume.” It is not just a noble thought, it is actually what he has practiced his whole life. In a world where learning which is market fit is ultimate and to be hell with it, he says that the young people should learn as much as possible. Ironically, how much is possible is how much you make possible. Elon Musk is a living example.
Things many of the young people have already forgotten he brought to the fore. Read and acquire general knowledge to know what is going on around the world. ”Talk to people from different walks of life and different industries and professions and skills.” Elon Musk advised GenNext. He also noted that the more you talk to different kinds of people from all across the world, the mind would become more and more open. In a 2014 interview he talked about ”evidence of exceptional ability” and that he believes in even now, rather than a degree from a prestigious university. His hiring preferences have been clear. Getting through the portals of a great university, gives an indication of being capable of great things. This might not necessarily be the case.

WHAT SELLS IS COMMONPLACE, WHAT ROCKS IS FILTERED COMMON SENSE, THAT DELIVERS.
