EVENT / Management

Events are milestones is our existence or achievements which we cherish. An eventful life is a worthwhile life and it always has a positive and well meaning connotation.  An event of life has an inherent value notwithstanding the celebration or lack of it, associated with it.

The inherent vitality of the event seems to be going down and the associated function gaining in prominence. More often than not, the event might not deserve any celebration.  Most of the times, the actual measure of the event does not match with scale of the celebrations.  Herein, enters event management, event managers and event management companies.  They are supposed to create events of lasting visual appeal with some scaled up fun and frolic.  Wasteful expenditure and ugly display of wealth apart, it can vaguely make some sense to social functions,  at its very best.

When seminars / workshops, professional meets go the event management way, there is something serious to ponder.  The success of event is measured by how much the participants enjoyed rather than the content of the meet / event. It is not documented or evaluated and seminars and workshops, which have gone on for years,  never venture into the unknown field of impact analysis.  As the requirement is of logistics,  event management companies and hotels foot the bill.  The sponsors are always there. Networking and business might happen but business or academics or governance does not elevated.

Time, money and effort, all goes for a six and positive and constructive energies get wrongly channelised.  The religious, community based and political jamborees have their own stories, totally disconnected to the existential levels of the vast majority of Indians.

We need to change.

THE EVENT / ACCOMPLISHMENT SHOULD BE EPOCH MAKING AND NOT THE SCALE OF THE EVENT MANAGEMENT.
