INTEGRITY – A WAY OF LIFE
In the hustle and bustle of the modern tech world with digital conveniences making life feel like a video game, the reality is that the brick and mortar of human existence has not changed, one critical behavioural trait being integrity. Though one would not have thought about it, once well ensconced in professional and personal life, the reality will dawn when the make believe world would start getting unfixed. The glue of integrity makes everything sustainable as only humans are the final drivers of human existence.
Profusely professed, a rarity to be practiced. Integrity in simple parlance is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. If we break it down into sincerity, morality, trust, virtue, reliability, culture, code, ethics et al, most would profess it to be non – doable, in the present day world and culture. It is precisely because of lack of integrity that we have reached this stage and not the vice versa. Comfort does come with virtues and once wedded to it, the loss is thick and fast, when integrity starts being talked about as an opinion and not a fact.
When there is nothing in our daily life which is outside the purview of integrity how can our our life be outside of integrity. Starting from parental integrity, which means, ”live so that your children think of fairness, caring and integrity, when they think of you.” Now we have made it as the lofty ideal on a rocking shop, trying desperately to close in to the shore. The educational system consolidates the Integrity Crisis. It is in the thick of a loss of face, if not shame.
Before we think of making it our DNA, a way of life and live a life of purpose and fulfilment, its high time that we take the baby steps in the professional world. Devoid of any sustained narrative, it is crying for Professional Integrity, which is the characteristic excellence you display in adhering to your set of unbending professional standards in dealing with any situation in your career.
MAKE PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY THE BEGINNING OF INTEGRITY TRANSFORMATION IN THIS NATION.
