PRACTITIONER, DIRECT PRACTITIONER & INDIRECT PRACTITIONER

We spend most of our working life practising what our jobs prescribe, in a limited way. Life is a practice. Our professional life is nearly divided into being a practitioner, academician, researcher & a step further being just an ideologue or a philosopher. From a life, society & national perspective everybody ought to be a practitioner or they don’t fit into the jigsaw puzzle of life.

A practitioner is common parlance does the job he or she is assigned with. They perform their mandated tasks in a near mechanical manner. They are indifferent to their professional needs, though they might feel to the contrary. The mechanical system also provides to their sustenance in that manner. They are cog in the wheel of a big organisational machine not sure of the fact who benefits out of it or in what manner. Automation which is about to engulf us is a about to eliminate this category completely.

The direct practitioner though doing mechanical work has a mind of its own. He is sure of the impact he is making and puts in his best effort to add value to himself & his practice, however small it might be. He tries to influence people in changing their mindset, finds meaning in what they are doing and suggests ways & means of doing it better and more often than not, he or she is able to do that. They are the leaders big & small.

The indirect practitioners are supposed to provide academic, technical, research, advisory and consultancy support to the practitioner. They are supposed to the men of intellect and at times wisdom in academics, research & associated fields. Unfortunately, they given up the ordained high end role and limited their practice to an extent that they are totally disconnected to the real practice & the practitioner.

All the three together make one organic whole and hence they should synthesize to make it happen. Non-practitioners have no role in this world.

THE MINDSET OF A PRACTITIONER IN A PROFESSIONAL HELPS CONTRIBUTE TO ENTERPRISE, SOCIETY & THE NATION.
