PUBLIC THINKERS, PUBLIC DOMAIN & PUBLIC LIFE
Undeniably, all of us think, worthwhile or not is a different story. Societally useful would be for another day. Individual & cumulative societal thinking is really well manifested on the medium of the day; the social media and how much of it qualifies as a Public Thinker’s is anybody’s guess. We barely find anybody hitting the Public Thinker status out of this medium. Do we really have Public Thinkers in this country standing tall, inspite & despite the ecosystem?
Public domain in business parlance has been understood as pertaining to issues of copyright & intellectual property . In reality, these descriptions does not make any sense to all of us in the public domain. Public Thinkers can and do present the objective & rational narrative of the world around. Contrarian or proactive, whatever may be the approach, the judgment is extremely sound and well substantiated by facts & rational thought. These thinkers over a period of time are able to influence public thought. The public narrative thus changes.
People in public life take pride in being there, of any ilk, with or without contribution. With the narrative of public domain changing to positive / proactive and delivery oriented, the present public life icons would have to redefine themselves & deliver or close shop. Public life would get back it’s sanctity and public it’s delivery and the connect with people in public life. Public would not longer remain an adjunct to them.
Thinking has be aloud, vocal and well meaning. Public thinkers resonate this feelings, sentiments and thought. Their respect and capability to make change happen emanate out of this resonance. The future of India depends on what public thinkers propagate and the way public domain responds. They need to be weaned away. If community thrives we all move ahead. Thus, the new rules of public life would get created. People in public life would necessarily have to respond to the new rules of the game for their own existence.
PUBLIC DOMAIN DESERVES RELEVANT THINKERS & BETTER PRACTITIONERS OF PUBLIC LIFE.
