SCHOOL PRINCIPALS – THE REAL CHANGE AGENTS

While we keep lamenting about all that had gone wrong with the present world, from students losing interest in reading to degradation of moral values to the students and world getting hooked to the social media, we don’t give a thought as what a school and schooling system can deliver. We have some great examples of Rishi Valley, Ramakrishna mission, some conventional Jesuit Missionary schools, which with some customisation can turned out to be great models. With more than ten years of undiluted mental and physical presence at your command, you can do wonders.

The student is out there to listen to the teachers, whom he relies on the most. And the teacher fraternity is guided by their leader, the Sutradhar of the school, whose vision gets translated into the lives of the students. All of us remember our Principals, more so the worthy ones who made us transform through the teachers, who reflected him/her and by aura and charisma all around him, which was more felt and experienced rather than just seen and deciphered. Now the question remains, do the majority of today’s Principals fit into that mould.

In the fast changing world with the present day technology, skills and communication methods, the Principals have also to incorporate these changes, the old methods loyalty, command and automated respect cannot be the order of the day. Disruptive technologies, heightened parents aspirations and premium on hard work going down, the ride would not be very easy for the Principals. They have to declare themselves as the The Real Change Agents of modern society, creating islands of quality education, peace & tranquility for young to understand and assimilate from coding to ethics.

The grooming of a CEO after scouting for the talent in the corporate world has to be the same method for creating Principals, which can only be successful. They have to be trained, mentored, given exposure, imparted cross domain knowledge to create the visionary practitioners of our schooling system. They would stand tall on their strength to transform the decadent system and be hailed as The Real Change Agents of Education and society.

CHANGE AGENT PRINCIPALS WILL GIVE US BACK THE SOCIETY WE DESERVE.
