START UPs – Entrepreneurship Redefined!
The importance being assigned to the startups in inventing the future of this country seems to be highly exaggerated based on the progress made so far and direction in which they are generally heading for. The ecosystem has still to take roots in this country. Whether they are following the flight of capital or are interested in creating enduring business entities is still unclear. Not withstanding all the teething problems, they are the future of this land, as they are for the rest of the world.
Eric Ries defines a startup as a human institution designed to create a new product or service under conditions of extreme uncertainty. The two cardinal principles are either it’s a proprietary product; being created for the first time or the prospective change would be to a level of 10x or more; which certainly can disrupt the present process.
Peter Thiel thus says that the next Bill Gates will not build an operating system and the next Larry Page or Sergey Grin won’t make a search engine. If one is copying them, one is not learning from them. The moral of the story is this Zero to One; a new earth shattering product and thus the same name happens to be the title of the book. Scalability in the digital age has become a non issue and that is at the crux of all disruptive innovation happening all across the globe.
The Indian start up ecosystem, it’s high time ought to mature . Though trying to follow the modern rules of the global technological age, yet they still working with the mindset of a businessman. Herein, lies the difference. Being wedded to the idea is the first requirement and having an umbilical cord relationship with the product and thus the company should be the natural fall out.
The country is waiting for the change to be ushered in. Sooner than later it ought to happen.
BEFORE DELIVERING THE DISRUPTION, THE STARTUP ECOSYSTEM SHOULD BE DISRUPTION ENABLED.
