HAD I LEARNED EARLIER!
Most of the very successful men after gaining immense maturity, money, name and fame, while getting into their candid reminiscences generally speak about learning and skills, if they had known earlier, could have made immense difference to their life and career and needless to says, about their fortunes. Lots talk about the lack of guidance and tonnes talk about missing out on not finding a role model or mentor, who could have given them some clues on appropriate learning.
What is important is that these successful professionals have always been in search of the skills, learning and knowledge, which would help then to achieve their goals. And they did discover it, gained mastery over it and reaped immense benefits out of it. That learning is the best possible asset in life is the learning that they have for sure acquired. This learning will keep you in good stead all your life.
For the vast majority, learning and lessons don’t count for anything. Getting degrees, certificates, unwarranted accolades and finally a job is the learning they have been inculcated with and they stick to it for the rest of their life. These guys would never talk about having missing out on any learning. A neat linear life is what they have imagined of and seemingly that they have that goal. The capability to think, learn and improve seems to have completely gone out of their lives. Actually, they never had one.
Reflecting back on the misses in life certainly makes you better equipped not to miss out on such learnings in future. Your intuition should not fail in getting to understand what could be of use in the future. Conversely, some like Steve Jobs developed the uncanny knack to connect the dots prospectively. It adds immense value in shaping the professional persona and the utility of that persona to society, nation and the mankind.
IN SEARCH OF RELEVANT LEARNING SHOULD BE THE PERMANENT OF YOUR MIND.
