STANDARDS, UNIFORMITY, CERTIFICATION & AUDIT

With standards at its core, the rest of the mechanism ought to fall in place to transform the disparate products, systems, processes & protocols in a large number of sectors. Today, lack of it, gives the feeling that the whole country is an unorganized sector, qualitatively. Maggi has been a classic example of what Food & Drug Administration has to offer.

Standards – In an ideal, modern & complex world, nothing would run without standards, but most are not that way from IT to CCTV to food products as mentioned. The China & China type products have had a field day and we at the mercy of fate for our existence. Lack of standards is no standard which puts every stakeholder in a quandary.

Uniformity – For whatever little standards we have in place is not being uniformly implemented / executed across the country. This negates the creation of the standard itself. Some system of approval needs to be created to provide the right direction. Self regulation does not work and should not be adhered to, as an administrative practice.

Certification – Compliance for name sake adds no value to the organization. It creates a make believe world. The organization ought to know what has been put in place, how it benefits out it, how it used and the nature of audit to follow. Lots of certificates are on walls of business enterprises and means nothing to the organization in reality.
Audit – Audit is at the core of sustainability of modern products & systems and is an extremely powerful & potent tool for gauging both the utility and the shortcomings and suggest methods to improve upon it. This iterative process would lead to the final evolution of a word class standards ecosystem.

STANDARDS, UNIFORMITY, CERTIFICATION & AUDIT CAN PROVIDE A SAFE BASIS FOR OUR MODERN EXISTENCE
