THE IRON CURTAIN IS WITHIN US!
An open, objective, free, fair mind, in its thinking & response in a modern democratic & technology driven world is a must given the fast pace of change. It is a necessity to be both dynamic & real time and also be able to deliver on long term goals on a sustainable basis. While we all agree on this framework, we also claim to be in possession of these traits, when most of us don’t. The world in the last decade has moved way ahead of the mindsets we possess and flexibility & agility of thought, mind & action has not happened. The iron curtain is within us.
This iron curtain is manifested in wide & varied ways. How much change in the mindset have you witnessed in people around you? How many have you found fresh to idea? How many do you find to real practitioners of cross culturalism? How many are wedded to multiplicity of ideas which is a must in a multifaceted world? How many of us believe in introspection? How many of us interdisciplinary & multidisciplinary? How many of us feel that is no need for further mental growth or acquisition of knowledge & skills?
The answers to this questions would at best in terms of a very few, who are the exceptions to the rule. The vast majority perform lip service to these ideas. They neither have the inclination or any energy to even take the first step. This is the iron curtain deep within us, which will never allow to rub against any change, however much earth shattering it might me. They don’t possess a mind which is the product of a brain which has large parts dedicated to creativity & change.
The stiffness is amazing & so is the near numbness of feelings. The clamour on the TV screens is a living testimony to the iron curtains we are loaded with. My world is the world view is the dictat. Enlightenment, Reformation have be movements in history, a modern one ought to happen. This can only happen with a drastic change in our educational system and it being an uniform. It would be a great internal battle to remove this iron curtain.
